The Wiggles Fill Arenas With an Eight-Person Lineup
The Wiggles open Sparkle BIG SHOW on 24 October for 30 Australian dates, run by the eight-member lineup Field expanded in 2021.
The Wiggles open Sparkle! BIG SHOW at Sydney’s TikTok Entertainment Centre on 24 October, and the 10 AM session is already sold out. Thirty Australian performances then run through 19 December at Afterpay Arena.
That scale is not a four-man nostalgia lap. It is what the eight-person company Anthony Field built after 2012 can actually tour, three sessions in a day when the rooms allow it.
The 10 AM Sydney Show Is Already Sold Out
The opening Sydney date lists two sessions, 10 AM and 1:30 PM, on the group’s Sparkle BIG SHOW Australian dates page. Only the morning one is marked sold out. Perth’s 21 November 10 AM show is the other early sell-out on that board.
Most other cities still show Selling Quick or Almost Gone, with three-session days in Newcastle, Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane and the Afterpay Arena closer. The official copy puts Anthony and Lucia in blue, Tsehay and Evie in yellow, Simon and Caterina in red, and Lachy and John in purple, plus Dorothy the Dinosaur, Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus, Captain Feathersword and the Tree of Wisdom.
Field, the last original member still performing, said ahead of the run that the group had just played 40,000 people in five days in New Zealand. That cluster sat inside a separate 11-show New Zealand tour. He also said Shaquille O’Neal had joined them on stage in America, and that former All Black captain Richie McCaw played bagpipes with them on the New Zealand dates.
Eight Wiggles Can Play Three Times a Day
Evie Ferris, the first Indigenous Australian Wiggle, has said the group can play up to three shows a day. Purple Wiggle John Pearce put the reason in one line: there are eight Wiggles now, so they break it up.
That is the operational fact behind the arena grid. A four-person act cannot own a 10 AM, a 1:30 PM and a 4:30 PM in the same room without wrecking voices and bodies. Eight skivvies can rotate, and Field can step off a session.
THE EIGHT ON STAGE
- Blue: Anthony Field, founding member, and Lucia Field, his daughter.
- Yellow: Tsehay Hawkins, Ethiopian-Australian, and Evie Ferris, a Taribelang and Djabugay woman and former Australian Ballet dancer.
- Red: Simon Pryce, who joined in 2013, and Caterina Mete, Italian-Australian.
- Purple: Lachlan Gillespie, who joined in 2013, and John Pearce, Filipino-Australian, formerly of Justice Crew.
The eight on the tour poster is not a frozen 2021 photograph. When Field doubled the group that year for the Fruit Salad TV series, the new names were Tsehay Hawkins, Evie Ferris, John Pearce and Kelly Hamilton, slotted in with Field, Gillespie, Pryce and Emma Watkins. Watkins and Hamilton are not on this arena card. Lucia and Caterina are. The roster moves, which is how a children’s act outlives a founder quartet.
Lucia Field has said the group now includes an Indigenous First Nations woman and Filipino, Greek, Italian and Ethiopian members, and that children “love it so much because if you can see it, you can be it.” Pearce has said anything can be a song, “the more ridiculous, the better,” which is the same joke-writing habit that once put fruit salad on a rock beat.
Luke Field, general manager of commercial and another of Anthony’s nephews, has said the youngest Wiggle is 21 and the oldest is 63. Tsehay Hawkins was 15 when she joined in 2021. The age spread is the succession plan sitting in plain sight, two generations of Fields included.
After 2012 the Rooms Were a Quarter Full
Field, Murray Cook, Greg Page and Jeff Fatt formed The Wiggles in 1991 while Field was studying early childhood education at Macquarie University and still playing in the rock band The Cockroaches. They tested songs at a Randwick childcare centre, then took a tape to the ABC. Field said a woman there told them, “You’ll be lucky to sell 300 copies of that, at most.” The debut album sold 100,000 copies by word of mouth, with no radio campaign and almost no television beyond one Midday Show spot.
Disney Channel later ran them four times a day in the United States. Field has said a customs officer recognised them on arrival, and that he turned to Cook and said, “Things have changed, mate.” They then played 13 successive sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden. Early on, Field pushed the original four to split every song four ways, after watching his brother Johnny Field collect the royalty cheques from The Cockroaches. He still credits that split with keeping the founders out of the usual band fights.
THE SUCCESSION BETS
- 1991: Field, Cook, Page and Fatt form the group; the debut is told it will be lucky to sell 300 copies and then sells 100,000.
- 2012: Cook, Fatt and Page stop performing. Field stays. He later said the rooms were a quarter full, then built back with Emma Watkins, Lachlan Gillespie and Simon Pryce.
- 2021: Field expands to eight, four men and four women, and says they need to represent the audience more.
- 2026: Sparkle! BIG SHOW books 30 Australian arena performances, 35 years after the preschool tape.
The 2012 break still sounds like a surprise in Field’s telling. The other three had decided they had had enough, and someone even floated that it might be time for him to go too. He asked them, “Boys, I really just love this. This is what I do. I don’t know what else I’m going to do if I don’t do this. So I’ll keep going if you’re happy with that?” They were. He has said the original members stayed supportive while the new lineup played to rooms that were a quarter full.
Canavan Said They Would Go Broke
Nationals senator Matt Canavan answered the 2021 expansion with a line that followed the group for five years. “The Wiggles are free to do what they like. It was nice while it lasted. But you go woke, you go broke,” he said.
Field’s reply, laughing, ahead of Sparkle, was that the show is bigger than it ever was, and that they still have to represent the audience. He compared the last five years with eight Wiggles to a rejuvenated football team that has developed so much that he can step back a little more.
Look, it’s bigger than it ever was. Again, we have to represent our audience. And it really is bigger than ever now. We’ve got 10 million subscribers now on YouTube. We’ve just done 40,000 people in five days in New Zealand and had the most amazing time. The last five years with the eight Wiggles has been like a rejuvenated football team that has developed so much, and I can step back a little more.
Anthony Field, Blue Wiggle, interview published 18 October 2026
A slice of original-lineup fans still treats the eight as stand-ins, the same complaint that cropped up under the UK announcement. The touring math does not care. Three sessions a day, a father and daughter sharing blue, and Field talking about stepping back are what a company looks like when it has stopped depending on four irreplaceable founders.
Caterina Mete recently recorded a Calabrian song for YouTube, and Field said a woman wrote in that if the song had existed when she was at school in the 1990s, she would have had better self-esteem. That is the representation argument in a single piece of mail, not a senator’s slogan.
YouTube Hit 11 Million and the Tree Went Viral
Field’s 10 million figure was already behind the public listing. Tracker Social Blade and the group’s own channel now show 11 million YouTube subscribers listed, with 6.2 billion views across 1,465 videos. The channel went up in April 2007. Social Blade’s last-30-day window shows about 200,000 new subscribers and 62 million views.
THE ONLINE MACHINE
- Subscribers: 11 million on the public YouTube listing, against Field’s 10 million in the 18 October interview.
- Library: 6.2 billion views across 1,465 videos since 4 April 2007.
- Last 30 days: about 200,000 new subscribers and 62 million views on Social Blade’s window.
- Live check: 40,000 people across five days in New Zealand, inside an 11-show tour.
The live show’s adult bait is the Tree of Wisdom, the official tour page’s “viral favourite,” played by Dominic Field, another of Anthony’s nephews. Parents film the dancing tree; children get Hot Potato. That split audience is how an act born in a Randwick preschool still fills John Cain Arena at 4:30 PM.
The new songs sit on Sparkle!: A Circus of Lights, the album the arena staging is built from. Field has also cut three songs with Dolly Parton, who he said was frail and still full of energy, and spent a studio day with Creedence Clearwater Revival’s John Fogerty. Fogerty, Field said, did not hear kids’ music. He heard music. “I could never regret any part of playing what we do. I love it.”
Thirty Australian Shows, and Morning Tickets Go First
The Australian grid is a nap-time timetable as much as a rock itinerary. Sessions cluster at 10 AM, 1:30 PM and 4:30 PM, with Brisbane’s opener at 9:30 AM. Children under 12 months get in free on a lap. Anyone 12 months or older needs a ticket. A transaction is capped at eight tickets. Sign language interpreters are listed for the 10 AM session at each Australian stop.
Patrons with a Companion Card can claim a free extra seat under the Companion Card complimentary ticket rules. Meet-and-greets are invitation only, aimed first at charity partners. Prams stay in a first-in parking area outside the auditorium. The presenting partner is the International Fresh Produce Association ANZ, with Royal Caribbean, Vegemite, Budget and American Express on the strip.

The posted cities are Bournemouth, Cardiff, London (29 and 30 March), Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dublin. Venue accounts spent the day calling it arena status for a children’s act. Underneath, a few original-lineup holdouts still wanted the 1991 four, and at least one Dublin buyer could not find a presale link. The argument that mattered in 2021 has gone quiet in the replies. The argument that remains is whether your town is on the routing.
Lucia Field’s summary still fits the 35-year file. “The ethos has always been the same, but we just look a little different now.” Field himself still dislikes talking about his own run. He said he was scared and anxious about the interview, and that he is proud of the people he has worked with and of keeping the original brief, which was to engage children well.
The 10 AM Sydney show is already gone. Field can step back a little more because seven other skivvies can take the 1:30.
