Samsung has announced that its latest flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S23 series, will receive a new software update that will bring several AI features to enhance the user experience. The One UI 6.1 update will be available for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra starting from late March 2024.
One UI 6.1 Brings Galaxy AI to Galaxy S23 Series
The One UI 6.1 update will introduce Galaxy AI, a set of features that leverage artificial intelligence and generative models to offer more convenience, creativity, and productivity to Galaxy users. Some of the Galaxy AI features include:
- Chat Assist: This feature allows users to adjust the tone and style of their messages, as well as translate them into 13 different languages, with the help of AI. Chat Assist can also suggest emojis, stickers, and GIFs based on the context and mood of the conversation.
- Live Translate: This feature enables users to translate voice calls on the fly, without the need for a separate app or service. Live Translate supports 10 languages and works with both cellular and VoIP calls.
- Interpreter: This feature provides a split-screen interface for translating live conversations between two people who speak different languages. Interpreter supports 13 languages and works offline as well as online.
- Circle to Search: This feature lets users search for anything on the web by simply drawing a circle around it on the screen. Circle to Search works with Google and can be used on any app or image.
- Note Assist: This feature helps users to organize and summarize their notes with the help of AI. Note Assist can also convert handwritten notes into text, extract key points, and generate mind maps.
- Browsing Assist: This feature enhances the web browsing experience by offering smart suggestions, such as related articles, videos, and products, based on the user’s interests and preferences.
- Transcript Assist: This feature allows users to record and transcribe audio files with high accuracy and speed. Transcript Assist can also recognize up to 10 voices and assign different colors to them for easy identification.
Galaxy S23 Series Users Can Enjoy More AI Features with Generative Edit and Instant Slow-mo
In addition to Galaxy AI, the One UI 6.1 update will also bring two more AI features that are exclusive to the Galaxy S23 series. These features are:
- Generative Edit: This feature uses generative models to edit photos and videos in a creative and realistic way. Generative Edit can realign objects, change backgrounds, add effects, and more.
- Instant Slow-mo: This feature uses AI to generate additional frames for slow-motion videos of action-packed moments. Instant Slow-mo can also adjust the speed and duration of the slow-motion effect.
Samsung Plans to Bring Galaxy AI to More Devices in the Future
Samsung has stated that the One UI 6.1 update is only the beginning of its Galaxy AI journey, and that it plans to bring Galaxy AI to over 100 million Galaxy users within 2024.
