Croma’s Rs 74,990 iPhone 17 Pro Max Needs a Flagship Trade-In
Croma’s iPhone 17 Pro Max deal reaches Rs 74,990 only after a large trade-in, a store bonus and card cashback, as iPhone 18 Pro Max pre-books open at Rs 1,79,900.
Croma is offering the iPhone 17 Pro Max 256GB at an effective in-store price of Rs 74,990.
That number stacks a trade-in of up to Rs 53,000, a store bonus of up to Rs 12,000, and Rs 4,000 in card cashback, and it landed as Croma opened iPhone 18 Pro pre-books.
Croma Builds Rs 74,990 From a Trade-In, a Bonus and a Card
The 256GB iPhone 17 Pro Max is the phone in the headline, and the 512GB version nets Rs 94,990 under the same in-store stack. Croma is not reprinting Apple’s list. It is subtracting a trade-in, a bonus and a card offer from a still-high ticket.
When Apple unveiled the handset on 9 September 2025, the iPhone 17 Pro Max started at INR 149900 for 256GB and Rs 1,69,900 for 512GB. Croma.com will list the same two sizes at Rs 1,39,990 and Rs 1,59,990 from 15 September, and those web prices already include the Rs 4,000 bank cashback.
Take the 256GB web figure, subtract a maximum iPhone 15 Pro Max exchange of Rs 53,000 and the Rs 12,000 bonus, and you land on Rs 74,990. The 512GB path is the same subtraction from Rs 1,59,990, which is how Croma reaches Rs 94,990. Miss either slice and the net price jumps by that slice.
THE RS 74,990 STACK
| Line | 256GB (Rs) | 512GB (Rs) |
|---|---|---|
| Apple launch price | 1,49,900 | 1,69,900 |
| Croma.com from 15 September, with bank cashback | 1,39,990 | 1,59,990 |
| Max iPhone 15 Pro Max exchange | 53,000 | 53,000 |
| Max store exchange bonus | 12,000 | 12,000 |
| Effective in-store price | 74,990 | 94,990 |
Croma says the Rs 4,000 bank cashback needs select credit cards, and the exchange value depends on the old phone’s model and condition. The Rs 53,000 ceiling is the published top for an iPhone 15 Pro Max in good enough shape. A scratched set, a lower model, or a refused inspection cuts the credit and leaves more of the Rs 1,39,990 on the bill.
The Full Rs 12,000 Bonus Starts at Rs 30,000
The bonus is the piece most of the deal copy treats as a flat Rs 12,000. Croma’s current Apple launch terms do not pay it that way. The extra credit follows the assessed value of the phone you hand over, and Croma says the programme runs in stores only.
A device valued at Rs 30,000 or more unlocks the store-only bonus of up to Rs 12,000. Anything under that drops through lower rungs, down to Rs 3,000. An iPhone 15 Pro Max at the Rs 53,000 ceiling clears the top rung with room to spare. A mid-range Android that Croma prices at Rs 12,000 does not.
CROMA STORE EXCHANGE BONUS
| Old-device value (Rs) | Bonus (Rs) |
|---|---|
| 3,000 to 9,999 | 3,000 |
| 10,000 to 14,999 | 4,000 |
| 15,000 to 17,999 | 6,000 |
| 18,000 to 29,999 | 8,000 |
| 30,000 and above | 12,000 |
Work a Rs 18,000 trade-in through the same 256GB web price and the bonus is Rs 8,000, not Rs 12,000. Net outlay becomes Rs 1,13,990 before the card offer, which is a different purchase from the Rs 74,990 headline. Croma also says device condition is checked before any exchange is applied, and that the offer cannot be clubbed with other store deals except brand or bank cashback.
Exchange bonus is Up to 12,000 Rs based on the below table bracket and can be availed only at croma stores

That store gate matters for anyone hoping to click through Croma.com or Tata Neu and still see Rs 74,990. The web listings from 15 September already bake in the Rs 4,000 cashback. They do not bake in the bonus table.
Apple Has Taken the 17 Pro Max off Its Site
Croma can price last year’s Pro Max this way because Apple has already moved on. After the iPhone 18 Pro event, the 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max left Apple’s own India store, and third-party sellers are working through remaining stock. Apple’s India shop no longer lists it beside the new Pro models, the iPhone Air, the iPhone 17, the iPhone 17e, the iPhone 16, or the iPhone Duo.
The same week, Apple raised the phones it still sells. The iPhone 17 256GB is Rs 99,900, up Rs 17,000 from its Rs 82,900 launch price. The iPhone Air is Rs 1,49,900, up Rs 30,000. The iPhone 17e is Rs 79,900. Last year’s large Pro Max is the model Croma is still trying to move, and it is the one that still carries the A19 Pro chip Apple launched it with.
That chip, a laser-welded vapor chamber, and a 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR panel with ProMotion up to 120Hz and 3000 nits of peak outdoor brightness were the pitch in 2025. The rear camera stack is three 48MP Fusion sensors, including a tetraprism telephoto with 4x optical zoom and 8x optical-quality zoom. Finishes were deep blue, cosmic orange and silver. Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, put the claim in plain launch language.
iPhone 17 Pro is by far the most powerful iPhone we’ve ever made, with a stunning new design rebuilt from the inside out to maximise performance and deliver an enormous leap in battery life.

THE WEEK THE 17 PRO MAX LEFT APPLE’S SITE
- 9 September 2025: Apple unveils the iPhone 17 Pro Max in India from Rs 1,49,900.
- 19 September 2025: India availability begins for the 17 Pro lineup.
- 10 September 2026: Apple pulls the 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max from its own shop after the 18 Pro launch, and leftover 17 prices rise.
- 12 September 2026: iPhone 18 Pro pre-books open at 5:30 PM, and Croma’s in-store 17 Pro Max stack is in the market.
- 15 September 2026: Croma.com is due to list the 17 Pro Max at Rs 1,39,990 and Rs 1,59,990, inclusive of bank cashback.
- 18 September 2026: iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max go on sale.
Retailers have run this calendar for years: Apple delists the outgoing Pro on announcement week, and chains price the leftover units against the new ticket. Croma’s Rs 74,990 line is that calendar with a trade-in engine attached.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max Opens at Rs 1,79,900
The new large Pro is the number sitting on the other side of the aisle. Croma lists the iPhone 18 Pro Max 256GB at Rs 1,79,900, which is Rs 30,000, or 20%, above the 17 Pro Max launch price. The iPhone 18 Pro 256GB is Rs 1,64,900, also Rs 30,000 above the 17 Pro’s Rs 1,34,900 start. Higher storage on the 18 Pro Max runs Rs 2,04,900, Rs 2,54,900 and Rs 3,29,900.
Croma will take Rs 5,000 to pre-book either 18 Pro model in a store. Online pre-books through Croma.com, Tata Neu and BigBasket need the full amount. Sale day is 18 September. On those new phones, Croma’s brand cashback is listed at Rs 7,000 on six-month card EMI and Rs 6,000 on a full swipe, through Axis Bank, ICICI Bank and SBI Card, and the same store-only bonus table can apply. Amazon co-brand cards are excluded from that cashback.
Put Rs 74,990 next to Rs 1,79,900 and the older Pro Max does the retail job a clearance price is meant to do. It makes the new bill look taller. Shoppers who already hold a recent iPhone, and who do not need the A20 Pro or the new camera, can stay inside Apple’s upgrade loop without paying the 18 Pro Max list. Shoppers who want the new one still face a starting ticket that is Rs 30,000 above last year’s Pro Max.
What Buyers Without a Trade-In Pay at Croma
Skip the exchange desk and the Rs 74,990 offer is not the price in front of you. From 15 September, Croma.com is listing the 256GB iPhone 17 Pro Max at Rs 1,39,990 and the 512GB at Rs 1,59,990, each inclusive of the Rs 4,000 cashback. That is the cash, no-trade path, and it is still Rs 9,910 and Rs 9,910 below the two launch prices, but it is not half of anything.
A first-time iPhone buyer, or anyone whose old phone Croma values under Rs 30,000, is shopping a different deal from the headline. The bonus table still helps in a store, yet it cannot replace a Rs 53,000 credit. The card offer still needs an eligible credit card. Croma also says advertised prices are subject to eligibility, availability and the terms of each offer, and that it can modify or withdraw the promotion without notice.
WHAT THE RS 74,990 PRICE NEEDS
- A qualifying handset: The published ceiling is up to Rs 53,000 for an iPhone 15 Pro Max, set after a condition check.
- A store visit: The Rs 12,000 bonus is written as a Croma-stores programme, not a Croma.com markdown.
- A high enough appraisal: Only a device valued at Rs 30,000 or more receives the full bonus.
- A select credit card: The Rs 4,000 cashback is limited to eligible cards, and the web prices from 15 September already assume it.
Pay on a card that does not qualify and the Rs 4,000 disappears from both the store stack and the Rs 1,39,990 web figure. Fail the inspection on a 15 Pro Max and the Rs 53,000 becomes whatever Croma will actually put on the invoice. Those two cuts are why two people can walk into the same store and leave with totals that do not resemble each other.
Buyers Also Get a Hyphen Combo and Cheaper AppleCare+
Croma is wrapping extras around the 17 Pro series for people who do take the deal. A Hyphen case combo listed at Rs 3,499 is free with an iPhone 17 Pro Max. AppleCare+ bought with a 17 Pro series phone is 10% off. Six-month no-cost EMI can carry the Rs 4,000 cashback, subject to the same card terms.
On Croma’s current Apple launch sheet, six-month card EMI is the no-cost tenor. Nine, 12, 18 and 24-month tenors are low-cost EMI with interest subvention matched to the six-month rate, and a processing fee is charged, plus GST on that fee. That fee is easy to miss if the conversation stops at “no-cost.”
WHAT COMES WITH THE PHONE
- Hyphen combo: A case kit Croma values at Rs 3,499, bundled free with the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
- AppleCare+: A flat 10% discount when it is bought with a 17 Pro series device.
- EMI: Six months no-cost on eligible cards, with a processing fee still levied under Croma’s Apple terms.
None of those extras changes the arithmetic in the first table. They are add-ons for a buyer who has already qualified for the stack, or who is paying the Rs 1,39,990 web price and still wants a case and a service plan. ZipCare protect plans are also on Croma’s Apple page as a paid extra warranty, separate from AppleCare+.
Stores Take Rs 5,000; Online Wants the Full Amount
The 17 Pro Max offer is running through Croma stores nationwide, with online buying through Croma.com and the Tata Neu setup. Croma operates more than 560 stores across over 200 cities. In those stores, an 18 Pro or 18 Pro Max pre-book is Rs 5,000. On Croma.com and Tata Neu, that pre-book is the full ticket, and Croma says cashback until 17 September on the new models is only for those two online channels, while stores take the Rs 5,000 hold.
CROMA’S APPLE WINDOW
- Store hold: Rs 5,000 to pre-book an iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max.
- Online hold: Full payment on Croma.com, Tata Neu and BigBasket.
- 17 Pro Max web prices: Rs 1,39,990 and Rs 1,59,990 from 15 September, including Rs 4,000 cashback.
- New-phone sale: 18 September for the 18 Pro lineup, with offers valid till stocks last.
If you already own a high-value iPhone and you can live with last year’s Pro Max, the in-store stack is the path Croma has priced for you. If you do not, the number on the invoice is the web figure, or the new Pro Max at Rs 1,79,900. Croma’s terms close on a blunt line: offers last as long as the stock does, and the company can pull them without notice, with disputes seated in Mumbai courts.
