Hanuman Ansh took Rs 8.25 crore on Day 40 and sits Rs 8.60 crore short of Rs 300 crore worldwide after Cinépolis rebuilt a 40-screen hold.

Hanuman Ansh earned Rs 8.25 crore net in India on Day 40, from 9,175 shows. Sacnilk has the worldwide gross at Rs 291.40 crore, Rs 8.60 crore short of Rs 300 crore.

The film opened at Rs 10 lakh on 7 August 2026. By week 2 it was down to about 40 screens. Cinépolis India, co-producer Anupriya Nagar, and Neem Karoli Baba’s following are why a Tuesday in week 6 still paid.

Forty Screens, Then More Than 2,000

Cinépolis India holds exclusive Indian distribution, including other chains and independent cinemas. It opened the film on about 250 screens. Week 2, after Awarapan 2 and Batwara 1947 arrived, the release was cut to about 40 screens.

On that smaller map, the chain says per-screen collections nearly tripled against week 1. Shows were kept where occupancy held, added where advances built, and put back into towns the film had left. By 2 September 2026, Cinépolis said it was playing on more than 2,000 screens.

Most films get judged in two weekends. The data on this one told us to wait. When we consolidated to 40 screens in the second week, per-screen collections nearly tripled, which told us the film was holding its audience. So we rebuilt the release around that demand, centre by centre. We held shows where occupancy was strong, added shows where bookings built up, and took the film back into markets it had left. It is now playing on more than 2,000 screens across every major chain and hundreds of independent cinemas.

Devang Sampat, Managing Director, Cinépolis India

Writer-director Vishal Chaturvedi said the chain’s team kept calling theatres, checking response, and sending occupancy back to the makers. That is distribution as a daily desk job, not a poster campaign. The film had almost no paid publicity because the budget did not allow it.

Rs 8.25 Crore on Day 40 Beats Pathaan

Day 40 was Tuesday, 15 September 2026. Sacnilk logged Rs 8.25 crore net from 9,175 shows at 31 percent occupancy, and a gross of Rs 9.60 crore that day. Overseas added Rs 2.00 crore, taking foreign gross to Rs 18.50 crore. India gross is Rs 272.90 crore. India net is Rs 231.13 crore India net from 137,549 shows.

At the same point in their runs, several much bigger Hindi films earned less in a day. The comparison is not opening strength. It is what still comes in after the first rush has gone.

DAY 40 INDIA NET

Film Day 40 India net
Hanuman Ansh Rs 8.25 crore
Dhurandhar Rs 2.60 crore
Pathaan Rs 2.55 crore
Chhaava Rs 1.40 crore
URI: The Surgical Strike Rs 1.38 crore

Those Day 40 figures are the ones circulating with the Sacnilk ledger. Hanuman Ansh is still sharing the week with Mirzapur: The Movie and Haiwaan. Occupancy of 31 percent on 9,175 shows is not a packed house. It is a wide map that still converts.

Who Kept Hanuman Ansh Alive After Week 2?

Sacnilk’s week 1 net is Rs 1.08 crore. Week 2 added Rs 40 lakh, so 14 days produced Rs 1.48 crore. Day 8, the second Friday, the film was down to 29 shows and Rs 4 lakh. That is the night most bookings die.

The hold is visible in the occupancy, not the cash. Day 10, Sunday 16 August, 31 shows filled at 85 percent for Rs 8 lakh. A tiny footprint was full. That is the signal Cinépolis says it waited on, and it is also what viewers described when they said they drove hours because nearby screens had already gone.

THE HOLD IN WEEK 2

  • Day 8: 29 shows, Rs 4 lakh net, 35 percent occupancy.
  • Day 10: 31 shows, Rs 8 lakh net, 85 percent occupancy.
  • Week 2 total: Rs 40 lakh net after a Rs 1.08 crore first week.
  • Day 40: 9,175 shows, Rs 8.25 crore net, 31 percent occupancy.

Shobhinaw Satyaa plays Neem Karoli Baba, also called Maharaj-ji, with Chandan Anand opposite him. The cast was not a first-weekend magnet. The people who kept buying tickets were already in the Baba’s orbit, in India and abroad, and they treated empty screens as a problem to solve.

A Sunday That Beat Two Full Weeks

Week 3 net was Rs 10.40 crore. Day 17 made Rs 2.20 crore. Day 19 made Rs 2.35 crore as shows jumped to 1,847. Then week 4 went vertical: Day 22 Rs 6.25 crore, Day 23 Rs 9.25 crore, Day 24 Rs 12.75 crore from 5,363 shows. One Sunday took more than the first 14 days combined.

HOW THE RUN TURNED

  1. 7 August 2026: Opens at Rs 10 lakh net from 355 shows and 10 percent occupancy.
  2. 14 August 2026: Second Friday collapses to 29 shows and Rs 4 lakh.
  3. 21 to 27 August 2026: Week 3 nets Rs 10.40 crore as shows climb back.
  4. 30 August 2026: Day 24 nets Rs 12.75 crore, more than weeks 1 and 2 together (Rs 1.48 crore).
  5. 28 August to 3 September 2026: Week 4 nets Rs 61.00 crore.
  6. 4 to 10 September 2026: Week 5 nets Rs 90.25 crore, with Day 31 at Rs 22.75 crore, the highest single day so far.
  7. 15 September 2026: Day 40 still nets Rs 8.25 crore from 9,175 shows.

Week 4’s Rs 61.00 crore already dwarfed everything before it. The fifth Sunday, Day 31, then out-earned that famous Day 24. Day 38, the sixth Sunday, still did Rs 22.50 crore. Monday 14 September and Tuesday 15 September each did Rs 8.25 crore, a flat hold rather than a cliff.

Against a reported budget of around Rs 2 crore, the worldwide gross of Rs 291.40 crore is 145 times that cost. Some unofficial trackers have already printed the film past Rs 300 crore. Sacnilk has not. The Rs 2 crore figure is also the number some viewers refuse to believe, because a Hindi theatrical feature that cheap implies deferred fees and a shoot with no studio padding. Anupriya Nagar has already had to say she did not fund the whole picture.

Anupriya Nagar Put in One-Third of the Budget

Nagar is 21, an economics graduate from the University of Bath, and she came in after the shoot. The team needed money to finish post-production. She put in savings from part-time jobs in the United Kingdom, a third of a budget she has described as between Rs 1.5 crore and Rs 2 crore, and has said the producers have recovered what they put in.

Three women have produced this film, and I am the youngest. I joined during post-production. The team told me that the film had been made, but they did not have the funds for post-production. I put all my savings into this film because I felt a strong emotional connection to it. It is a very emotional project for me. Maharaji (Neem Karoli Baba) inspired so many foreigners, such as Larry Brilliant and Steve Jobs, but very few people in India know about Maharaj Ji. I want people to know his life story and visit his ashram.

Anupriya Nagar, producer

She also shut down the version of the story in which she is the lone backer. “There is also a misconception that the entire film was produced by me, which is not true. I contributed one-third of the entire budget,” she said. The credited producers include Nagar, Namrata G. Singh, Ragini S, and Chaturvedi, under Swambhu Media Network and Holy Cow Home Productions.

WHO PUT MONEY AND TIME IN

  • Anupriya Nagar: Joined after the shoot and says she put in one-third of the budget from UK savings.
  • Namrata G. Singh and Ragini S: The other two women producers Nagar named; Singh has talked about racing the overseas date.
  • Vishal Chaturvedi: Doctor-turned-filmmaker who wrote, directed, and produced from his book Divine Detour: That Changed My Life.

Chaturvedi has said the audience did the publicity, including people who travelled 200 to 250 km when local shows vanished. He also runs a Hanuman Chalisa club he has put at 12,000 members. That circuit, not a trailer drop, is what filled the 40 screens hard enough for Cinépolis to reverse the cut.

Overseas Opened on Maharaj-ji’s Death Anniversary

Hombale Films, through Hombale Overseas and with Phars Film, took international rights and opened the film on 11 September 2026. Producer Namrata G. Singh said the date was the point: 11 September is Maharaj-ji’s mahasamadhi, the day he died in 1973, and the team pushed censor copies and assets to hit it. Overseas money in Sacnilk’s Rs 18.50 crore total is five days of play, from 11 to 15 September, not a long foreign run.

Hombale Overseas said the Australia premiere had crossed $100,000.

Prathyangira Cinemas, the North America partner, posted a North America gross of $500,000 and counting by 13 September. Those dollar posts are the distributors’ own tallies, not Sacnilk’s rupee ledger. They do show why a Baba film can travel: the ashram at Kainchi Dham already draws seekers who first heard the name from Western devotees, which is the gap Nagar said she wanted the film to close in India.

The 150-minute Hindi biographical drama is the first part of a planned trilogy, with Braj and Bundeli subtitles on the Indian release. Panorama Studios handled Delhi-UP in the domestic split. None of that infrastructure existed in week 2, when 29 shows were the whole country.

The Telugu Version Opens on September 18

A Telugu copy, presented by Trivikram Srinivas and distributed in the region by Fortune Four Cinemas, is due in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on 18 September 2026. That is a new language market, still ahead, not money already in the bag. Nagar has said a sequel is coming because, in her words, Maharaj-ji has given the team so much they do not have a choice.

Day 40’s Rs 8.25 crore and 9,175 shows mean the Hindi print has not been parked for the dubbed one. Sacnilk’s worldwide gross is Rs 291.40 crore. Rs 8.60 crore still separates that figure from Rs 300 crore, and Tuesday occupancy was 31 percent, not a houseful last lap. The chain that once cut the film to 40 screens is still the party that has to keep those shows on the board.
